DTIA Program builds awareness and capabilities in Design Thinking for Healthcare
Design Thinking and Innovation Academy In collaboration with DesignSingapore Council
Healthcare challenges are complex, systemic and involve people – a perfect match for Design Thinking, a needs-based creative method for designing breakthrough solutions. In collaboration with the DesignSingapore Council, we have developed the healthcare curriculum of the Design Thinking and Innovation Academy. Teams from across the sector have successfully learnt how to use Design Thinking to address their own healthcare challenges: Raffles Medical Group and Tan Tock Seng Hospital and Excelpoint are amongst the alumni.
Client: DesignSingapore Council, Singapore 2012 & 2014
Challenge
To introduce healthcare industry professionals to the mindset, methods, tools and value of using design thinking for healthcare innovation; building their innovation capabilities and creating effective commissioners of design.
Insight
When teams learn-by-doing and choose their own problem to tackle they learn effectively. The DTIA programme is a 4-day intensive training workshop in which teams move through the design thinking process from insights research to concept prototyping and testing.
Result
Enthusiastic teams of healthcare professionals who become passionate about the value design thinking can bring to healthcare innovation as a result of their own hands-on experience learning to use the methodology.
